Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Fort Worth - Colorado Eagles defenseman Erik Adams scored thirteen seconds into to overtime to give the Eagles a 3-2 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas on Tuesday night at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Adams goal, his third of the season, capped off a furious third period rally by the defending CHL champion Eagles. Fort Worth led the game 2-0 twenty-two seconds into the third when left wing Wes Mason batted the rebound of a Bret DeCecco shot past Colorado goaltender Paulo Colaiacovo.

Following Mason's goal, the Brahmas appeared poised for the home ice victory. Colorado, however, had different intentions. Despite trailing by two goals, the Eagles cranked up their potent offensive attack on Fort Worth. Colorado finally got on the scoreboard at the 13:14 mark of the third period when center Sean Robertson lifted a shot from just outside the Brahmas goal crease past the glove hand of Fort Worth goalie Chris Davidson. Robertson's goal came on a Colorado powerplay.

Less than two minutes later, Colorado got the tying goal. Eagles team captain Greg Pankewicz scooped up the rebound of a Riley Nelson shot and flipped a backhander up high past Davidson. Pankewicz's goal, his Eagles team high 18th of the season, proved to be the last goal in regulation.

With the momentum clearly on their side, the Eagles struck quickly in the overtime period. On their first offensive rush of the extra session, Adams hopped on the rebound of a Ryan Tobler shot and batted the puck into the Fort Worth net.

The Colorado comeback spoiled a marvelous effort in net by Fort Worth's Davidson. The rookie from UMass-Lowell held the Eagles (the CHL's second highest scoring team) off the scoreboard for the majority of the game. Davidson made several spectacular saves in the first two periods, robbing the Eagles on numerous glorious scoring chances. Altogether, Davidson stopped 25 of the 28 Eagles shots he faced in the contest.

Colaiacovo earned the win in net for Colorado by turning away 30 of the 32 Fort Worth shots sent his way. Beside's the Mason goal, the only Brahmas score the second-year pro from Etibicoke, Ontario allowed was a Bret DeCecco powerplay deflection at the 4:18 mark of the second period.

The overtime loss for the Brahmas pushes Fort Worth winless streak on home ice to four consecutive games. Fort Worth is now 9-15-4 on the season. The victory for the Eagles improves Colorado's record to 21-6-1 for the year.

Fort Worth will be back on the ice this Friday night, December 30, when they open a home-and-home weekend series with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The following night, Saturday, December 31, Fort Worth will ring in the New Year with a 7:35 p.m. road game against the Killer Bees at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo.
