Cape Breton Eagles News Release
BLAINVILLE-BOISBRIAND- The Screaming Eagles couldn't keep a fast start going in a 4-1 loss to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Sunday.
The Eagles did strike first, just prior to the halfway mark of the opening frame as Tyler Hylland converted a feed from Ian Smallwood to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. But just as a former Armada player would score for the Eagles, a former Eagle would get the Armada on the board as Tobie Bisson ripped a shot from the point to tie the game at the 14:29 mark. Blainville-Boisbriand would add to the lead before period's end as Alexander Katerinakis would slide the puck under Kevin Mandolese to make it 2-1.
Cape Breton would outshoot Blainville-Boisbriand in the second period, but a fortunate bounce for the Armada would help make it 3-1. An Alexis Sansfa?on shot from his own side of centre changed direction coming off the boards and Luke Henman was all alone in front to cash in, and add to the home team's edge. Then halfway through regulation, the Armada had their first opportunity to work their league leading power play and Thomas Ethier would capitalize it make it 4-1.
In the third period the Eagles would outshoot the Armada again, this time by a margin of 16-5. But they were unable to solve Mikhail Denisov again and 4-1 would be the final score as the Eagles wrapped up a three game in a three nights weekend.
Denisov picked up the win, stopping 32 of 33 shots. Mandolese took the loss, allowing four goals on 21 shots.
The Eagles will get a few days off now before the road trip continues in Gatineau on Wednesday night against the Olympiques. Puck drop is at 8:30 PM and you can catch all the action beginning with the pre-game show at 8:00 with Patrick McNeil on 1270 CJCB AM or online at www.cjcbradio.com.
