Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced Thursday that they have re-signed forward Trent Daavettila for the 2013-14 season. During the 2012-13 campaign, Daavettila's first with the Eagles, the Howell, Michigan native led the team with 48 assists, finished second with 67 points and ended the regular season tied for third on the squad with 19 goals. He would go on to lead the Eagles in the postseason in goals (4), assists (6), points (10), and plus/minus rating with a plus-8.
Since 2009, Daavettila has produced the most points in the ECHL with 326 (including playoff games). In that time, his 222 assists and his plus-59 plus/minus are also tops in the ECHL.
"Trent is such a tremendous leader for this hockey club and he brings a consistency that we can depend on from the first game of the regular season until the final game of the playoffs," said Eagles president and general manager Chris Stewart. "We expect him to not only be a key contributor again for us on the ice, but we will continue to rely heavily on his leadership in the dressing room."
In 261 regular season ECHL games, the 6-foot, 190-pound forward has accumulated 270 points (88-182-270), highlighted by a stellar 2010-11 season (in which he led the league with a plus-28 plus/minus) that helped Kalamazoo represent the Eastern Conference in the Kelly Cup Finals. He led the K-Wings in points in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns (154 in 140 games) and led the 2011 playoff field in points (28) & assists (22), as well.
"My family and I are so excited to return to Colorado, it is such a great community and the fans are absolutely incredible," said Daavettila. "I can't wait to get back on the ice and have a shot at winning a championship."
