WINDSOR, CO. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Sunday that they have acquired forward Mitch Holmberg from the Wichita Thunder in exchange for future considerations. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound winger has posted three goals and four assists in 13 games this season with Wichita. The third-year pro captured the Bobby Clarke Trophy in his final season in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs when he posted 118 points in 72 games, including a league-best 62 goals. In total, Holmberg amassed 296 points in 314 WHL contests.

Holmberg made his professional debut with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL near the conclusion of the 2013-14 season and would go on to appear in three ECHL playoff contests with the Bakersfield Condors. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native split his first full pro season between the Condors and the Elmira Jackals during the 2014-15 campaign, generating six goals and nine assists in 40 ECHL games. Holmberg would spend the 2015-16 season in Europe with Szekesfehervar of the MOL Liga where he would collect 37 goals and 31 assists in 48 games.

The Eagles will conclude their four-game road trip with a meeting against the Utah Grizzlies on Wednesday, December 21st at 7:05pm MT. Colorado enters the match-up having won a season-high seven consecutive games.
