
Dynamo Midfielders Boniek GarcÃa, Luis Garrido to Join Honduras for Gold Cup Qualifying Playoff

HOUSTON (Thursday, March 19, 2015) - Houston Dynamo midfielders Boniek GarcÃa and Luis Garrido will join the Honduras national team on Sunday for its 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifying playoff against French Guiana. The two-leg playoff will be held on March 25 and 29.
GarcÃa and Luis Garrido will join the national team on Sunday, following the Dynamo's road game against the LA Galaxy on Saturday. The pair are expected to rejoin the Dynamo ahead of the April 4 road match against Seattle Sounders FC.
Honduras qualified for the playoff after finishing in fifth place at the 2014 Copa Centroamericana. French Guiana reached the playoff after its fifth place finish at the 2014 Caribbean Cup.
The winner of the playoff will qualify for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and participate in Group A along with the United States, Panama and Haiti. The first leg will be held on March 25 at Stade Municipal Dr. Edward Lama in Cayenne, French Guiana. The second leg will take place on March 29 at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
GarcÃa, 30, has 96 career appearances for Honduras, including three appearances at last year's FIFA World Cup. GarcÃa served as captain for Honduras in its 3-2 friendly loss versus Venezuela on Feb. 4. The Tegucigalpa native is in his fourth season with the Dynamo and has 12 goals and 14 assists in 79 career appearances, including playoffs.
Garrido, 24, also started two games for Honduras at the 2014 FIFA World Cup and has 27 caps for Los Catrachos. The Juticalpa native joined the Dynamo on loan from C.D. Olimpia in July 2014 and earned Dynamo Newcomer and Young Player of the Year awards after starting 11 matches last season.
The Dynamo visit the LA Galaxy on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. CT at StubHub center. Pregame coverage will begin at 9 p.m. CT on ROOT SPORTS Southwest.
