Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON- The Houston Dynamo and Houston Police Department are asking Dynamo fans to stand with Dallas at Wednesday night's U.S. Open Cup match between the Dynamo and FC Dallas.
Houston police officers will be stationed at each entry gate prior to Wednesday's match, inviting fans to donate to the Line of Duty Fund, which benefits the families of the Dallas Police Department and DART transit officers who were killed in the line of duty on Thursday, July 7.
"While we are fierce rivals on the field, it's important to remember that we are all neighbors at the end of the day," said Dynamo president Chris Canetti. "When you see people hurting, you want to help, and this is just a small way for us to show the people of Dallas that Houston is here for them and that we support them."
For more information on the Line of Duty Fund, visit DallasFoundation.org.
Just before kickoff of Wednesday's match, the starters for the Dynamo and FC Dallas will be led onto the field by uniformed members of the Houston and Dallas Police Departments, respectively. The teams will join together for a unified photo with the officers prior to the start of the match as well.
Additionally, there will be a moment of silence prior to kickoff to honor not only the officers in Dallas, but also those in Baton Rouge, La. and the Bellaire Police Department officer who lost his life in the line of duty last week.
General admission tickets for the match start at $20, and show time is 7:15 p.m. CDT. To purchase tickets or for more information, visit HoustonDynamo.com/tickets, call 713-276-GOAL or stop by the BBVA Compass Stadium box office on game day.
