HIDALGO, TEXAS - Dwight Howard spoiled Yao Ming's return to the court by posting a double-double as the Orlando Magic defeated the Houston Rockets 97-88 on the home court of the NBA Development League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers at State Farm Arena on Tuesday.

It was the second consecutive year the Rockets hosted a pre-season game and part of training camp on the Vipers' court.

Howard had 17 points and nine rebounds at halftime, on his way to final totals of 19 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks in 27:27.

Yao finished with three points and three rebounds in 12:03.

The Rockets trailed 29-26 after the first quarter, but a 14-1 run late in the second quarter put the Magic up 61-45 at halftime, and even though the Rockets outscored the Magic 43-36 in the second half, it wasn't enough.

Three Vipers alumni played for the Rockets:

Aaron Brooks had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Jermaine Taylor had five points and two rebounds.

Mike Harris had one point and two rebounds.

Antonio Anderson, who is also on the Rockets Training Camp roster, did not play.

The Rockets will return for RGV Rocket Launch 2011, featuring a portion of training camp and an exhibition game on the Vipers' home court, next season.
