Halifax Mooseheads News Release

A rare Saturday afternoon battle on the schedule saw the Mooseheads and Titan battle in a bizarre back-and-forth game that saw the Herd pull out a 5-4 victory. Both teams coughed up two-goal leads while Jordan Dumais scored the only goal of the third period for the eventual game-winner. Dumais tallied three points by adding two assists and combined for six points with line-mate Markus Vidicek who scored two goals and chipped in one assist.

It was another case of the Mooseheads making the most of their shots by scoring five times on just 21 shots while Acadie-Bathurst fired 42 shots at goalie Jack Milner. The netminder picked up his first career win with 38 saves.

The victory was the second straight win on the road for the Mooseheads after a 6-2 defeat of Charlottetown on Friday. The Herd were outshot 38-15 in that game and finished the weekend with 11 goals on only 36 shots while the opposition had a total of 80 shots on the Mooseheads net. Milner was under pressure early on Saturday as the Titan built a 2-0 lead by the 8:24 mark of the first period until the Moose offense caught fire quickly. Mathieu Cataford, Jake Todd and Markus Vidicek struck for three straight Halifax goals in a span of six minutes and thirty seconds to take a 3-2 lead to the room after the opening period.

Vidicek continued his red-hot play with his second goal of the game early in the second period when he stripped a defender of the puck and scored on a shorthanded breakaway for a 4-2 lead. The 19-year-old forward from Kirkland, QC has 13 points in five games since being reunited with Jordan Dumais.

With the Mooseheads holding a two-goal advantage midway through the game, the Titan mounted a solid attack and scored twice in 27 seconds to pull even at 4-4 by the 11:43 mark of the middle stanza. The Titan continued to pepper Milner with shots but he stood strong by stopping another 10 in the third period. Dumais cashed in on a two-man advantage on the power play much to the dismay of the 1,297 fans inside the K.C. Irving Regional Centre who did not agree with the two penalty calls by official Alex Robichaud.

Jake Furlong notched a pair of assists with nice plays to set up the Todd tally and the first marker by Vidicek. Brady Schultz also had two assists and Brody Fournier picked up the other helper. Halifax nabbed win number 10 on the season and bettered their record to 10-4-1-0.

The Mooseheads are set to return to Scotiabank Centre ice on Wednesday night in a rematch with the Titan. The Herd will also be at home on Friday, November 3rd against Rimouski in Minor Hockey Night and then it's Mooseheads Fight Cancer Night vs Sherbrooke on Saturday, November 4th at 7pm.
