Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., Apr. 24, 2009) - The Long Island Ducks today announced that the team will host a "peanut-free night" at Citibank Park on Tuesday, May 19, when the Ducks host the Newark Bears at 6:35 p.m. There will be no sale of peanuts at the ballpark on that date, giving fans struggling with peanut allergies the opportunity to attend a baseball game.

"Everyone knows the line from the song, ‘Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack," says Ducks group sales manager John Wolff. "But for some of our biggest fans, peanut allergies make it very difficult for them to come to the ballpark. One of the Ducks' core values is making sure everybody has a chance to see a fun, affordable professional baseball game, and we're continuing that mission by hosting a peanut-free event."

Peanut allergies in young children are a growing concern in the United States. An estimated one in 125 children suffers from a peanut allergy, and the number of children affected by peanut allergies has nearly doubled in recent years. The Long Island Ducks are providing a special opportunity for families dealing with this issue to enjoy a ballgame at Citibank Park. Families interested in purchasing tickets for the May 19 peanut-free game can do so by visiting, and typing the password "Peanut."
