Long Island, NY- It was another fine pitchers dual at Citibank Ballpark with lefties Andy High and Phil Devey exchanging outs.
The Ducks scored first with a double off the bat of Elvis Pena in the first inning to go up 1-0. Ben Candelaria then led off the third inning with a solo shot to right field to tie up the game 1-1.
The pitchers then battled it out until the bottom of the eighth inning when the ducks proved they can swim upstream, especially through the tough "surf". Four runs crossed the plate in a wild inning that Craig Mattson couldn''t get out of. Mattson came into pitch to the final batter in the seventh and oopened up the eighth.
The Surf couldn''t come back in the ninth as the drop to 12-9 in the south division. AC is still in first place, but not by much.
