Ducks soar to third straight win

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 11, 2005) – Paxton Crawford threw seven scoreless innings and retired the last 10 batters he faced to earn his third win of the season as the Long Island Ducks shutout the Camden Riversharks, 7-0 in front of 5,180 fans at Citibank Park (Box Score) on Wednesday night. The Ducks have now won five of their last six games (6-7).

Tonight was the night the Ducks had been waiting for all season as their bats finally caught up with the pitching staff, coming up with a season-high 13 hits, including two each from Justin Davies, Dominick Ambrosini and Ryan Owen, while Jhonny Perez added three. The Ducks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning with Davies and Ambrosini scoring and never looked back. Edgar Tovar's infield single in the fourth scored Jhonny Perez to give the Ducks a three-run lead. The Flock added another run in the fifth when Jason Johnson scored from second on a Perez single through the left side. Ambrosini rounded out the Flock's scoring with a three-run home run off Camden reliever Ramon Linares in the eighth.

Ducks starter Paxton Crawford (3-0) was brilliant in 7.0 innings of work, allowing four hits and striking out two to give the Ducks their season high three-game winning streak. Justin Lamber and Jeff Austin came in to relieve Crawford with two scoreless innings.

Tomorrow night the Ducks will conclude their homestand when they take on the Camden Riversharks at Citibank Park at 7:05 p.m. Chris King and Lou Brogno will call the game live on Cablevision channel 18.
