(Charleston, W.Va.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the West Virginia Power 4-1 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Appalachian Power Park.

West Virginia took an early 2-0 lead against Ducks starter Mike Bolsinger on a run-scoring groundout by Jose Tabata in the first inning and an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Chris Salvey in the second. A two-run home run to right field by Rubi Silva in the fifth increased the Power's lead to four.

The Ducks got on the scoreboard in the sixth inning against Power starter Arik Sikula. Brock Stassi walked and scored on a two-out RBI double to right-center by Rey Fuentes. However, the Ducks would get no closer.

Sikula (1-1) got the win, tossing six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five. Bolsinger (0-2) took the loss, conceding four runs on six hits and three walks over five innings with four strikeouts. Jean Machi earned his third save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Ryan Jackson led the Ducks offensively with a pair of hits. Justin Kelly tossed two scoreless innings of relief for Long Island, while Clint Freeman pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the eighth.

The Ducks and Power wrap up their three-game set on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Appalachian Power Park. Right-hander Akeel Morris (0-0, 0.00) toes the rubber for the Ducks against Power righty Aaron Blair (1-0, 1.80).

Long Island returns home on Tuesday, June 8, to begin a three-game series against the High Point Rockers. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It's the first Triple Play Tuesday of the season!
