Ducks Erase 6-0 Deficit But Drop Series Finale in York

(York, Pa.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 9-7 on Sunday afternoon in the final game of a three-game series at PeoplesBank Park.
A two-out, three-run home run by Jack Kenley off Ducks starter Anderson DeLeon in the first inning gave the Revolution an early 3-0 lead. RBI singles by Kenley and Josue Herrera in the third and a sac fly from Kenley in the fifth increased York's lead to six.
Long Island cut the deficit in half in the sixth inning when Daniel Fields scored on a wild pitch by Revolution starter Austin Steinfort and Breland Almadova launched a two-run home run to left field. The Ducks then tied the game at six in the seventh on bases loaded walks by Jesse Berardi and Vladimir Frias along with a bases loaded hit by pitch of Almadova. However, York answered back with three bases loaded walks of their own in the bottom of the seventh to take 9-6 lead.
Fields closed the gap to 9-7 in the eighth with a two-out RBI single to left. However, the Ducks could not even the score.
Neither starter factored into the decision. DeLeon pitched four innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two. Steinfort lasted five and one-third innings, yielding two runs on two hits and eight walks with three strikeouts. Eduardo Rivera (1-0) picked up the win after allowing a walk in one-third of an inning. Ryan Richardson (0-1) took the loss, conceding three runs (one earned) on two walks in relief. Jim Fuller earned his 10th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.
Almadova led the Flock offensively with a homer, three RBIs, a run and two walks.
The Ducks return home on Tuesday night to open a three-game series against the West Virginia Power. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). If the Ducks turn a triple play during the game, one lucky fan will win $25,000. To be eligible to win, simply sign up prior to first pitch at the Ticket Kiosk, located on the main concourse next to customer service. Right-hander Scott Harkin (1-0, 0.00) gets the start for the Ducks against a Power starter to be determined.
