(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots, 6-1, on Saturday night. Despite the loss, first place Long Island leads Bridgeport by 2.0 games in the Atlantic League North Division standings.
The Patriots lit the scoreboard early with a three-run home run by Ryan Radmanovich in the first and never trailed, adding a pair of runs in the eighth and a single run in the ninth. The Ducks scored their lone run in the second on an RBI single by Jimmy Goelz.
Keith Ramsey (1-1) picked up the win after holding Long Island to one run on five hits and a walk over eight innings. Pat Mahomes (4-2) absorbed the loss after allowing five runs on six hits and five walks in a 7.2 inning outing.
The Ducks and Patriots will play the rubber-match tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. Andrew Lorraine (1-0) will take the hill for Long Island against Somerset's Andy Van Hekken (0-3). The first 1,500 fans through the turnstiles will receive BBQ Mitts courtesy of Consumers Kitchens & Bath. Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to go down onto the field and get autographs from their favorite players in a pregame autograph session and after the game, kids get to run the bases courtesy of Cold Stone Creamery.
