Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive kept their winning rhythm on Saturday night when they beat the Asheville Tourists 3-2 and took their first lead of the series.
It wasn't long before the Drive ended Rhett Kouba's no-hit bid in the bottom of the second inning. Joe Davis took his tour of the bases and put the first run of the game on the board with his ninth home run of the season.
Chih-Jung Liu's nine strikeouts through his five innings kept Asheville off the board until the Tourists added a run of their own in the top of the sixth inning when Colin Barber brought home a lead-off walk with a triple. Barber didn't stay on the bases for long before Chad Stevens singled to center field and picked up another RBI for the Tourists.
Greenville responded in their frame of the sixth, however. Nicholas Northcutt, with his fourth homer in two games, brought Gilberto Jimenez home with a ball deep to left center field. Northcutt's swing gave the Drive the lead back at 3-2 after six innings.
The Drive look to close out the series with another win tomorrow at 3:05.
