Drive Headed Back to Playoffs

March 21, 2019 - NBA G League (G League) - Grand Rapids Drive News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Drive, the official NBA G League Affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, got some help early Thursday morning when the Warriors beat the Go-Go in Santa Cruz. With Capital City's loss, the Drive are headed back to the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

Grand Rapids squandered an opportunity to lock in their playoff position at home Wednesday night as they fell to the Blue Coats 144-135. Luckily for the Drive, Santa Cruz clinched the Pacific Division crown and by doing so, eliminated Capital City from playoff contention.

Grand Rapids becomes the sixth and final Eastern Conference team to clinch a playoff berth. The Drive will look to chase down Windy City for the Central Division as both teams have two regular season games to go. Grand Rapids currently trails Windy City by a game heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

The Drive return to DeltaPlex Arena on Friday night to host Canton and will then head to Fort Wayne on Saturday to finish their 2018-19 regular season schedule. Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling the Drive's front office at 844-GR-DRIVE.
