Drillers sweep Hooks again

Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) - The only good thing about the Hooks' 11-1 loss to Tulsa is that it's over. Nothing went the Hooks' way on Sunday night at Whataburger Field as the boys were swept at home for the first time of the season.
The game started off promising as Hooks' starter Josh Muecke (0-2, 11.25) struck out the game's first batter but eventually surrendered a run in the inning. The Hooks did match the run in the bottom of the frame as right fielder Hunter Pence singled in shortstop Ben Zobrist, who had been hit by a pitch and advanced on a J.R. House walk.
Unfortunately, the 1-1 score was as close as the Hooks would get as things got ugly and out of hand quick in the top of the second when the Drillers exploded for five runs off six hits including a three-run homer by Ian Stewart, who finished the game four-for-six with four RBI's, off of Muecke. Muecke, making his first start of the season, would last three innings, allowing six runs off eight hits. The Drillers would go on to add one run in the seventh and two in the ninth to put the game officially out of reach at 11-1.
Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth, the Hooks tried to put something together as pinch hitter Osvaldo Fernando hit a one out single. Josh Anderson then reached on an error by Drillers first baseman Joe Koshansky, followed by a single by Zobrist to load up the bases for House. The Hooks failed to capitalize on the opportunity when House hit into an infield fly and Pence struck out swinging to end the inning.
Tulsa starter Emmanuel Ulloa (4-2, 3.52) pitched six strong innings, striking out four, while scattering five hits in the win. The Hooks collected their sixth and final hit of the game in the eighth when House hit a single to lead off the inning. All six Hooks' hits were singles.
The Hooks will have tomorrow off and will look to get back to winning fashion when the Midland RockHounds come to town for a four game series starting Tuesday. Currently, the Hooks sit a half a game ahead of Midland in the Texas League South. Pitching match-ups for Tuesday will likely be Matt Albers (5-2, 2.39) on the mound for the Hooks against Midland's Ben Fritz (1-3, 3.03).
