Tulsa Drillers News Release
Springdale, AR - The Tulsa Drillers were shut out for the seventh time this season Saturday night, falling 7-0 to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Arvest Ballpark. Tulsa earned eight hits in the loss but was 0-11 with runners in scoring position and stranded 11 baserunners.
The loss evened the series between the two teams at two wins each.
A leadoff single in the first inning helped the Naturals score the game's first run. After the single, Peyton Wilson drew a walk, and both runners reached scoring position on a double steal. Jorge Bonifacio plated the game's first run with a sacrifice fly that put Northwest Arkansas ahead 1-0.
Bonifacio helped the Naturals score their second run in the third inning. Diego Hernandez began the inning with a single and immediately stole second base. Bonifacio singled on the first pitch he saw to score Hernandez and give the Naturals a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, they doubled their lead on two miscues from the Drillers. With runners at second and third, a wild pitch from Orlando Ortiz-Mayr allowed the runner from third to score. During the same play, Diego Cartaya recovered the ball and wildly threw to third base, allowing the second run to score.
Former Driller Leonel Valera plated the Naturals fifth run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning.
In the eighth, the Naturals scored two final runs on an RBI single by Luca Tresh and an RBI groundout from Tucker Bradley.
