Drillers Home Opener Thursday!

The Tulsa Drillers will play their 2009 home opener on Thursday, April 16 when they host the Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros). The opening home stand will consist of six total games, with three meetings against Hooks and three more against the San Antonio Missions (San Diego Padres).

It will be the final opener at Drillers Stadium. The Drillers are scheduled to move into the new ONEOK Field in downtown Tulsa for the 2010 season.

This season begins with Opening Nights I and II on the 16th and Friday, April 17. Free tickets for both games are available from sponsors of Drillers Baseball, including QuikTrip, Mazzio's and Subway.

The opening home stand will also feature several other great events, including the season's first post-game Fireworks Show on Saturday, April 18. The game on Sunday, April 19 will feature the year's first Kids Eat Free Sunday and the first Youth Clinic.

After a Monday Ladies Night on the 20th, the home stand will conclude with Day Baseball on Tuesday, April 21 and a starting time of 12:05PM.

TOBACCO-FREE: Drillers Stadium has become a tobacco-free facility this season. No tobacco use of any kind will be allowed anywhere inside the stadium perimeter. A tobacco-use area has been established outside the stadium gates.

STARTING OUT: The Drillers beat the Hooks 4-3 in last year's home opener as Dexter Fowler provided a pair of home runs. Tulsa has won six of its past nine openers at Drillers Stadium.

FESTIVITIES: Bill Rollings and Robert Sutton will throw out ceremonial first pitches before Thursday's opener. Rollings became the original owner of the Drillers franchise when he purchased the team and moved it from Lafayette, Louisiana in 1977. Sutton made the initial construction of Drillers Stadium possible with his $1 million donation in 1980.

Sasha Townsend, Mrs. Oklahoma International 2008, will perform the National Anthem before Thursday's opener. Bixby's Matt Breitzki, who was a finalist on this year's presentation of American Idol, will sing the anthem before Friday's game.

NEW START TIMES: Saturday games at Drillers Stadium during the months of April, May and June will have new starting times of 6:05PM.

HIGH SCHOOL SHOWCASE: After Tulsa's opening homestand, Drillers Stadium will host the 2009 Drillers High School Showcase. The showcase will feature 12 teams and 6 games over a three day period from Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25.

Thursday, April 16......vs.Corpus Christi Hooks (7:05PM) OPENING NIGHT I It is the final Opening Night at Drillers Stadium presented by the SafeKids Coalition and 97.5 KMOD. The Drillers begin their final season before moving to downtown Tulsa. Free general admission tickets are available from sponsors of Drillers Baseball, including most QuikTrip, Mazzio's and Arby's locations. 2009 SCHEDULE MAGNETS The first 5,000 fans to enter the stadium will receive a Drillers 2009 schedule magnet courtesy of Mazzio's and 97.5 KMOD. MYRON NOODLEMAN Tulsa's own Myron Noodleman makes his annual appearance at Drillers Stadium compliments of the SafeKids Coalition and 97.5 KMOD.

Friday, April 17......vs. Corpus Christi Hooks (7:05PM) OPENING NIGHT II Fans can again get free general admission tickets from any sponsor of Drillers Baseball, including most Subway, Arvest Bank and QuikTrip locations. GRILLERS STADIUM! The Drillers play their first and only game at "Grillers Stadium" courtesy of KFC. For one night, the Drillers hope to "grill" the Hooks at Grillers Stadium in honor of KFC's new grilled chicken. 2009 SCHEDULE MAGNETS The first 5,000 fans to enter the stadium will receive a Drillers 2009 schedule magnet courtesy of KFC and 97.5. Saturday, April 18......vs. Corpus Christi Hooks (6:05PM) - NEW STARTING TIME! FIREWORKS It is the first of ten great Fireworks Shows this season at Drillers Stadium. Following the game, the skies above the stadium will light up compliments of Arby's, the Tulsa World and Star 103.3. NOTE: Saturday games in April, May and June will have new starting times of 6:05PM! THUNDERSTICKS The first 1,500 fans to enter the stadium will receive a set of Thundersticks courtey of Arby's.

Sunday, April 19......vs. San Antonio Missions (2:05PM) KIDS EAT FREE SUNDAY It will be a great afternoon at the ballpark as it is a Kids Eat Free Day courtesy of Assurant Health and Borden Dairy! Kids, 14 and under, who enter with a paid admission will receive a coupon redeemable for a free hot dog, ice cream and milk. There will also be a face painter, a balloon artist and a character artist - all FREE for kids! YOUTH CLINIC All youth baseball and softball teams and players can obtain free admission for the game and a pre-game clinic and autograph session on the field with the Drillers players. The clinic will begin at 12:15 p.m. and is presented by American Airlines and 98.5 KVOO. PENNANTS The first 1,000 fans will receive Drillers pennants compliments of The M.e.t. and KBEZ 92.9.

Monday, April 20......vs. San Antonio Missions (7:05PM) LADIES NIGHT It is a special night for ladies at Drillers Stadium courtesy of Celebrity Attractions, Belk and 94.1 The Sound. All ladies are invited to enjoy free nail care from Looks Beauty & Wellness and back massages from Community Care College. Ladies will also receive coupons that will allow them to get discounts on selected food and beverage items at the stadium. In addition, Belk will give away a Lancome Gift Basket and a hair and nail makeover with each valued at over $100. Celebrity Attractions will be giving away two pairs of tickets to the presentation of the Ten Tenors.

Tuesday, April 21......vs. San Antonio Missions (12:05PM) DAYTIME BASEBALL There is no better way to enjoy a nice, spring day than sitting in the sunshine at Drillers Stadium as the Drillers conclude their opening homestand with a Day Game presented by KOOL 106.1 and La Preciosa 101.5!
