KEARNEY, NE. - Tri-City Storm forward Drew Montgomery has announced a commitment to play collegiate hockey in the future at Colorado College. Montgomery is currently in his second season with the Storm and has appeared in every game with the team to this point in the 2021-2022 regular season schedule.

#20 Drew Montgomery (5'11'', 166 lbs) of Grand Forks, North Dakota, returns to this year's team after scoring two goals and registering four assists in twenty-nine games played with the Storm last season. Montgomery made his USHL debut on November 13th, 2020, in Tri-City's 5-1 road loss to the Omaha Lancers. He scored his first career USHL goal on January 29th, 2021, in the Storm's 6-0 home victory over the Omaha Lancers. Prior to joining the Storm, Montgomery scored two goals and recorded nine assists during the 2019-2020 season for the Sioux Falls Power U16 (AAA) organization. Montgomery has netted one goal and recorded two assists to this point in the 2021-2022 season. Montgomery netted a 3rd period goal in Tri-City's 3-0 shut out victory over the Omaha Lancers on October 9th, 2021.

"I chose Colorado College because I am going to get the opportunity to get a first-class education while playing in the best conference in college hockey. I felt very comfortable with the coaching staff and the direction the program is heading. Our goal this season in Tri-City is to win the Clark Cup and we are not taking that lightly. We feel like we have the group of guys here to achieve that goal. I would like to thank my family for all the sacrifices they have made for me to get to this point. I would also like to thank the Tri-City Storm organization for believing in me from day one and pushing me to get better every single day." - Forward Drew Montgomery

"We are really happy for Drew and his family for reaching his goal of getting an NCAA Division I commitment. I think he is a guy who has come a long way in the past year and a half. He was someone who scratched and clawed to get into our lineup and did everything right when it wasn't necessarily the easiest, and now he's someone who has taken a step in the league and who has become an impact player for us on and off the ice."- President of Hockey Operations/Head Coach Anthony Noreen
