About Last Weekend
The Lumberjacks earned their second win of the season last week but ultimately split with the Youngstown Phantoms as Muskegon closed out a four-game homestand. Friday's match was a tight contest, with only two goals scored and two minor penalties having been called. Ben Strinden scored his fifth goal of the season for Muskegon, but the Phantoms managed to tie the game and send it into a shootout. But it was the Lumberjacks who would get the last laugh when Quinn Hutson won the game in the skills competition, giving the Jacks their second win of the season by defeating Youngstown 2-to-1 in a shootout. Saturday's game was almost the same story as the night prior, where the Lumberjacks held the lead two times, but it was Youngstown who came roaring back to tie the game twice and get the game-winner with just under two minutes left in regulation. Jacob Guevin and Jake Braccini both scored for Muskegon, but it wasn't enough as the Phantoms clawed their way back to a 3-to-2 victory. With the split, the Lumberjacks remain in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 2-7-1-2 on the year.
