
Dream Waives Center Katie Feenstra Mattera

Atlanta, April 8, 2009- The Atlanta Dream announced today that the team has waived center Katie Feenstra Mattera.
Mattera, a 6-8 center from Liberty University, appeared in 33 games for the Dream in 2008, including four starts. She averaged 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 14 minutes per game last season. Mattera was acquired by the Dream in the 2008 WNBA Expansion Draft from the Detroit Shock. In her four-year WNBA career, she is averaging 7.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game.
The eighth overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft, Mattera spent her first two seasons in the league with San Antonio where she posted the best numbers of her career. In her rookie season, she averaged career-highs in points (8.8), minutes (19.8) and blocks (1.3) for the Silver Stars, appearing in all 34 games and making 14 starts. In 2006, she averaged 7.8 points and a career-high 6.1 rebounds per game.
The Dream will tip off its second season on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. against the Indiana Fever.
