
Dream Launches High School Halftime Mania Program

ATLANTA, January 9, 2009- The Atlanta Dream announced today the nine metro Atlanta schools selected for the inaugural "High School Halftime Mania" program, bringing elements of the Dream's halftime show to local high school girls' basketball games.
"We recognize the great fan support and enthusiasm the Atlanta Dream received in our inaugural season last summer," said Dream Community Relations Manager Tameka Garrett. "With the amount of girls' basketball talent we have here locally, we realized that we could help generate that same excitement in high school gyms by bringing elements of our in-game entertainment to their games."
The Atlanta Dream is pleased to announce the following dates and locations for the first annual "High School Halftime Mania" program:
January 16, 2009: Kennesaw Mountain High School (vs. Woodstock High School)
January 23, 2009: Columbia High School (vs. Cedar Grove High School)
January 27, 2009: Dunwoody High School (vs. McNair High School)
January 30, 2009: Redan High School (vs. Luella High School)
February 3, 2009: Berkmar High School (vs. Parkview High School)
February 6, 2009: Hillgrove High School (vs. Woodland High School)
February 10, 2009: Stephenson High School (vs. Redan High School)
February 12, 2009: Riverwood High School (vs. St. Piux)
February 13 2009: Lithonia High School (vs. Southwest Dekalb)
"High School Halftime Mania," co-presented by Coca-Cola, encourages fans to support their local girls' varsity basketball teams, by bringing the halftime excitement of an Atlanta Dream game to high school gyms across the metro Atlanta area.
Elements of the program include: an appearance by an Atlanta Dream player, an in-game Host/MC, appearances by members of the "Shooting Stars" cheer team, opportunities for autographs and plenty of giveaways! The Dream will tip off its second season on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 7 p.m. against the Indiana Fever. The team was officially announced as the 14th team in the WNBA on October 17, 2007 and wrapped up its inaugural season of play at Philips Arena this past summer.
