Dragons toast Kernels with eleven run fourth inning

The Dayton Dragons scored all of their eleven runs in the fourth inning to defeat the Cedar Rapids Kernels, 11-4, in front of 8,281 fans at Fifth Third Field in Dayton on Tuesday night as first baseman Logan Parker hit two 3-run home runs and had 6 RBI in the inning.

Kernels starter Amalio Diaz (1-2) allowed seven runs on nine hits in three plus innings to take the loss. Mark Trumbo was 2 for 5 and Tyler Johnson added a triple as the Kernels were held to six hits. Matt Sweeney, Julio Perez and Anderson Rosario each had one RBI.

Dayton reliever Misael DeJesus (5-2) allowed two hits and struck out six in 3.1 innings of relief to get the win.

The Kernels set a season high with eight stolen bases in the game as Wil Ortiz had three; Abel Nieves and Matt Sweeney had two; and Mark Trumbo and Tyler Johnson had one. The Kernels lead the MWL in stolen bases with 138.

Game two of this four game series is Wednesday night from Dayton as David Herndon starts for the Kernels. Game time is 6 pm and can be heard on the internet at www.kernels.com , or on 1450 KMRY in eastern Iowa.
