Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

BELOIT, WI -- Wednesday's Midwest League game between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and the Beloit Snappers was suspended by inclement weather after the top of the first inning. The two teams will pick up the game in the bottom of the first inning at 4:30pm on Thursday.

The Timber Rattlers batted in their half of the first inning against Beloit starting pitcher Brian Kirwan, but did not score. Wisconsin starting pitcher Steve Richard had tossed a few warm up pitches for the bottom of the first inning. That was when the managers and the umpiring crew held a brief discussion about the flashes of lightning and threatening skies to the west of Pohlman Field. The decision was made to have the groundscrew put the tarp on the field.

They got it on just before a very heavy downpour soaked the field. One hour later the decision was made to suspend the game until Thursday.

It was not known at this writing if Richard wound return to the mound to start the bottom of the first in the restart of the suspended game.

Thursday's regularly scheduled game will be a 7-inning game and will begin thirty minutes after the completion of the suspended game. Kyle Parker (3-6, 2.68) will start game two for the Rattlers. Beloit has Cole Devries (7-3, 2.77) as their scheduled game two starter.
