Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:

Right-handed pitcher J.C. Sulbaran has been placed on the disabled list with a hand injury, retroactive to July 18.

Left-handed pitcher Tzu-Kai Chiu has been promoted to Dayton from Billings, the Cincinnati Reds Rookie-level affiliate in the Pioneer League.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Sulbaran (pronounced SUE-ber-wrong) has made 15 starts and one relief appearance for the Dragons this season, posting a record of 4-6 with a 4.99 earned run average.

Tzu-Kai Chiu (pronounced ZOO-KY CHEW) is a native of Taiwan. He becomes the second Taiwanese player to play for the Dragons over the past two seasons. Infielder Yen-Wen Kuo played for the Dragons in 2009.

This season with Billings, Chiu appeared in six games (all as a reliever) with a record of 1-0 and an ERA of 1.04. In 17.1 innings, he did not issue a walk while allowing just two earned runs on 17 hits and striking out nine. This is Chiu's fourth season in the Reds organization.

Chiu will wear #32 with the Dragons.

The Dragons host the Cedar Rapids Kernels tonight at Fifth Third Field at 7:00 p.m. (1410 WING; www.daytondragons.com). This is game one of a nine-game, 10-day home stand.
