Tough Night for Hot Rods

Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - It was a tough night in every facet of the game for the Bowling Green Hot Rods as they fell to the Quad Cities River Bandits 10-0 Wednesday. The lone bright spot for the team was shortstop Robi Estrada extending his home hitting streak to eight games.
Coming off his best start as a pro, Hot Rods starter Kirby Yates was looking to win back-to-back games for the first time. Unfortunately for Bowling Green, it was the exact opposite of a start for Yates. The River Bandits struck first in the top of the second when Frederick Parejo lined the first pitch he saw from Yates into the Hot Rods bullpen in left field for a solo home run.
The River Bandits would strike again in the fourth. Alan Ahmady would bloop a single into shallow center field. One batter later, Matt Adams, Quad Cities' statistical leader in almost every offensive column, would line a pitch the opposite way onto the Home Run Grill for a two-run shot.
After the Hot Rods stranded a runner at third with no one out in the bottom half of that inning, the River Bandits looked to make Bowling Green pay for that mishap in the top of the fifth. After a Ross Smith single and a Luis Mateo strikeout to begin the inning, the hit parade started for Quad Cities. Devin Goodwin and Ahmady would both strike run-scoring doubles, Adams would line an RBI single up the middle and C.J. Beatty would smack another line drive home run, this time into the Quad Cities bullpen.
That would be it for Kirby Yates, who gave up a career-high eight runs. The River Bandits would bring home two more runs off of Hot Rods reliever Matt Stabelfeld. The Hot Rods offense sputtered all night, finishing 0-8 with runners in scoring position and stranding ten on the base paths.
The Hot Rods resume their three-game series with the Quad Cities River Bandits on Thursday night at 7:05 PM at Bowling Green Ballpark. RHP Alexander Colome will start for Bowling Green against RHP Deryk Hooker for Quad Cities. You can follow the game on the radio with Hank Fuerst beginning at 6:50 PM CDT on 1340 AM WBGN and www.bghotrods.com.
