Burlington Bees News Release

Eastlake, OH (July 21, 2010) - New Bee Jake Kuebler was hitting .330 in the Pioneer League before his promotion to Burlington. On Wednesday night, he looked like he never left in a 6-4 win over the Lake County Captains at Classic Park.

Kuebler went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in guiding the Bees to their fifth win in their last seven games against Eastern Division competition. Wednesday's contest marked the first ever meeting between the Bees and Lake County, who moved with Bowling Green to the Midwest League from the South Atlantic League prior to this season.

The Bees and Captains were knotted at two in the top of the third until Deivy Batista launched an opposite field solo shot with one out to give Burlington a lead they would not relinquish. Three batters later, Kuebler belted a tape-measure shot over the recessed billboards in left-center field with Carlo Testa on first to extend the Burlington lead to three.

The Captains narrowed the lead to one with a two-run sixth, but the Bees put the game away in the eighth. With Batista on second after a bunt single to open the frame, Testa sent a grounder through the middle to bring home the insurance tally and astutely hustled into second for a double when Lake County failed to cover the bag.

Ryan Dennick, who hails from nearby North Olmsted, struck out three in the ninth for his team-high sixth save. Starling De La Rosa, in his Bees debut, took the win after pitching two innings in relief of starter Matt Mitchell. Sam Runion worked a pair of hitless innings to bridge the gap.

The Bees take on the Captains in game two on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time. Listen live on GoBees.com, or catch the tape-delayed broadcast tomorrow evening on News Radio 1490 KBUR starting with the Casebine Community Credit Union Pregame Show at 6:10.
