Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons scored four runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 5-2 victory over the Lake County Captains on Wednesday night. The win was the Dragons third straight and their seventh victory in the last 11 games. Attendance was 8,207 at Fifth Third Field.

Lake County scored two runs in the top of the first inning to get an early lead, but the Dragons battled back in the fourth. The inning started when Joe Terry doubled to deep right-center field and advanced to third on Steve Selsky's single to center. One out later, Kyle Waldrop blooped a single to left that brought in Terry and after the ball was misplayed by left fielder Bryson Myles, Selsky went to third and Waldrop took second. Both runners scored when Sean Buckley doubled over the head of the right fielder to make it 3-2. Buckley scored on a bouncing ball past the first baseman into right field off the bat of Juan Silva to make it 4-2.

The Dragons scored again in the seventh when Silva walked, stole second, went to third on a ground out, and scored on a wild pitch to make it 5-2 and close out the scoring.

Dragons starting pitcher Tanner Robles (4-3) tossed six innings, allowing three hits and two runs with four walks and four strikeouts to earn the victory. Robles enjoyed a nice bounce back from a rough first inning when he allowed both Captains runs. Robles faced the minimum 12 batters over four innings from the second through the fifth. Lake County had only one hit from the second inning through the eighth.

Mike Dennhardt replaced Robles and worked two perfect innings, striking out one. Ryan Kemp pitched the ninth and worked out of a bases loaded, one out jam when he got a double play ball off the bat of Robel Garcia to end the game. The save was Kemp's third of the season.

The Dragons finished with seven hits, five of which came in the fourth inning. Joe Terry was 2 for 3 with two doubles and a run scored to lead the attack.

The Dragons (24-35) host the Captains (28-30) again on Thursday in the second game of the series (WONE 980 AM) at Fifth Third Field at 7:05 p.m. Stalin Gerson (3-4, 4.07) will start for Dayton against Lake County's Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.67). The series concludes on Friday before Bowling Green visits Dayton for a three-game set starting Saturday. Games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be televised on WHIO Digital Channel 7.2 (Time Warner Cable channels 23 and 372) and MiLB.com.

Notes: The three-game winning streak is the Dragons first of the season...Lake County shortstop Francisco Lindor made one of the top defensive plays of the season in the second inning when he robbed Waldrop of a hit with a diving stop of a hard grounder behind second base and then threw out Waldrop from the outfield grass...The Dragons were 4 for 10 with men in scoring position...A Dragons win on Thursday or Friday would give them their third straight series victory...The game was played in just two hours, eight minutes.
