Two Run Double Dooms Captains

Lake County Captains News Release


(Dayton, OH) - The Dayton Dragons (24-35) used a four run fourth inning to defeat the Lake County Captains (28-30) by a score of 5-2 on Wednesday Night in Dayton, Ohio. The Dragons used five hits in the fourth inning highlighted by a two run double by Sean Buckley and Dayton lead the ballgame 4-2 heading to the fifth inning.

Lake County scored first, by scoring two runs in the top half of the opening frame. Luigi Rodriguez led off the game with a double then Francisco Lindor was hit by a pitch and there was two on and nobody out. A wild pitch scored Rodriguez and moved Lindor to second base. Jerrud Sabourin singled home Lindor and the score after one inning was Lake County 2, and Dayton 0.

Dayton scored a run in the eighth inning when Juan Silva walked to begin the inning, and promptly stole second base. Silva moved to third on a ground out, and scored on a wild pitch by Manny Carmona. The Score was 5-2 heading to the ninth.

LHP Tanner Robles (4-3) got the win for Dayton. Robles twirled six full innings allowing just three hits and two earned runs. He walked four and struck out four. Mike Dennhardt entered in relief and pitched two innings and did not allow a hit, or a walk. He struck out one. In the ninth, Ryan Kemp came into get the save. Kemp had the bases loaded and one out but got Robel Garcia to bounce into the 6-4-3 double play to end the ballgame.

RHP Cody Anderson (4-3) took the loss for the Captains. Anderson pitched five innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits. Anderson walked two and struck out two. Manny Carmona pitched two innings and allowed one earned run on a walk and a wild pitch. Carmona also fanned three Dragons. Francisco Valera pitched the eighth inning for the Captains

The Captains will be back in action Thursday night in Dayton, Ohio. On Thursday The Captains will send LHP Shawn Morimando (1-1, 4.67) to the mound against RHP Stalin Gerson (3-4, 4.07) for Dayton. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM. This is the final road trip of the first half for Lake County. After the three game set in Dayton, the Captains will travel to Lansing, Michigan for three game against the Lugnuts and then will return home.
