Dragons Make QB Moves

April 3, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

The New York Dragons continue to make changes as they head into their Week Six match-up versus the Grand Rapids Rampage with the signing of QB Asad Abdul-Khaliq and the release of QB Leon Murray.

Abdul-Khaliq comes to the Dragons after spending 2005 and 2006 with the Chicago Rush as their backup quarterback. In 2006, he recorded seven completions on 15 attempts for 115 yards and two touchdowns.

"We felt that Khalik was a good decision with his experience being the backup in Chicago. He is a guy that can come in and be able to grab the reins if anything were to happen to Rohan. He is someone who we definitely feel is ready for this opportunity."

Murray started in the Dragons 2007 season opener versus Dallas and recorded eight completions on 18 attempts for 64 yards with one interception before Rohan Davey replaced him for the second half.

"We just felt that at this particular time it was in the best interest of both parties that we let Leon have the chance to get with a team where he would have the opportunity to be the starter," said Harding. "I feel Rohan will be the starter in the foreseeable future and we didn't feel it was fair to Leon in this situation."
