Chicago Rush News Release

Chicago Rush wide receiver Bobby Sippio was named this week's AFL Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday's 66-31 win over Los Angeles, the AFL announced today.

"Bobby had another great game for us on Sunday, and I am glad he is getting some league recognition, because he definitely deserves it," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "I am running out of words to describe just how big an impact he has on our team. He is the ultimate competitor whose attitude helps make everyone around him better."

Sippio caught five touchdown passes and set team records with 14 receptions and 224 yards in Sunday's win.

For the season, Sippio has 45 catches for 638 yards. He currently leads the AFL in scoring with 21 touchdowns and 126 points, and he ranks second in receptions and receiving yards. He currently is on pace to break the AFL single-season records for both touchdowns (61) and scoring (366).

In addition, his five-touchdown performance Sunday is his third of the season and the fifth of his Rush regular season career. (He also added a five-TD performance vs. San Jose in last season's American Conference Final.) Since the start of the 2006 season only Colorado's Damian Harrell (6) has more regular season five-TD games than Sippio.

Most importantly, since acquiring Sippio late in the 2006 season the Rush is 11-3, including last season's championship run.
