Dayton Dragons News Release

DAYTON, OHIO-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster changes today:

Right-handed pitcher Mike Dennhardt has been promoted to Dayton from the Cincinnati Reds extended spring training camp in Goodyear, Arizona.

Left-handed pitcher Ryan Kiel has been promoted from Dayton to the Bakersfield Blaze of the California League.

The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.

Dennhardt was the Reds' 32nd round draft pick in June, 2011 out of Boston College. He underwent "Tommy John" reconstructive elbow surgery in April, 2011 and has not pitched since suffering the injury last spring in a game at Boston College. He will make his professional debut with the Dragons. Dennhardt played at Don Bosco High School in New Jersey where he posted a record of 10-0 as a senior, leading his team to a 33-0 record and a state championship. He was a combined 19-0 over his junior and senior seasons in high school.

Kiel was with the Dragons for less than a week. He appeared in two games, tossing five scoreless innings. He fired four shutout innings in the Dragons 16-inning battle with Fort Wayne last night in the first game of a doubleheader at Fifth Third Field.

The Dragons play in Eastlake, Ohio tonight at 6:30 p.m. against the Lake County Captains. The series continues Thursday and Friday at 6:30. The Dragons open a four-game series at home against Lansing on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
