Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Lansing, MI - The recently called-up Josh Sale drove in his first run, but his Bowling Green Hot Rods (17-16) lost 7-3 to the Lansing Lugnuts (22-10) on Wednesday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. In game one of the three-game set, the first-place Lugnuts used a four-run bottom of the fifth to put the game out of the Hot Rods' reach. Juniel Querecuto, Josh Sale, and Drew Vettleson each drove in runs for the Hot Rods in the loss.

Lansing took a commanding 6-0 lead in the game when they scored four times in the bottom of fifth inning. Over the remaining four innings, the Hot Rods frustrated themselves offensively by not taking advantage of opportunities to get back into the contest. Bowling Green loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth and the seventh innings but scored just one run in each of the two situations.

That was the theme of the night for the Hot Rods, who ended up stranding 11 and went 2-19 with runners in scoring position in the four-run defeat. Ryan Brett, Cameron Seitzer, and Matt Rice all contributed with two hits. All three run-scoring plays for Bowling Green occurred on plays where a hit was not recorded. Josh Sale and Juniel Querecuto brought runs in on groundouts, and Drew Vettleson brought in a run with a bases-loaded walk.

The Hot Rods and Lugnuts (Future Blue Jays) continue their three-game series from Cooley Law School Stadium with the middle game on Thursday night at 6:05 PM CDT. Bowling Green will give the start to LHP Ryan Carpenter (4-1, 2,57), and Lansing will counter with LHP Justin Nicolino (1-0, 0.00).

Tune in to the game on the flagship station for the Hot Rods Radio Network, 1340-AM "The Ticket", or online at 1340wbgn.com. Join Hank Fuerst for the Forever Communications Pre-Game Show at 5:45 PM.

The Hot Rods return home to Bowling Green Ballpark on Saturday at 7:05 PM to begin a four-game series with the South Bend Silver Hawks (Future D-Backs). That night is Camping World Fireworks Night at the ballpark. For ticket information, visit BGHotRods.com or call the Hot Rods Ticket Office at (270)-901-2121.
