Drabek Works Eight Scoreless Innings In 3-0 Fisher Cats Win

Manchester, NH- Kyle Drabek worked a season-high eight shutout innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeated the Trenton Thunder 3-0 before 6,332 on Memorial Day at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

With the win, the Fisher Cats (32-20) won the series from the Thunder, and end the month of May with a two game lead over Trenton in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League.

Drabek (7-4) allowed four hits, walked one and struck out four to move into a tie for the Eastern League lead with seven wins. Danny Farquhar pitched a perfect ninth inning for his EL-leading 12th save.

New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Adam Loewen (2-for-3) led off with a double and scored on Manny Mayorson's single to left field.

The Fisher Cats extended the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Darin Mastroianni led off with a double and Callix Crabbe walked. Eric Thames reached on an error, as Mastroianni scored from second to make it 2-0. Brad Emaus then hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Crabbe.

D. J. Mitchell (4-3) took the loss for Trenton (29-21), allowing three earned runs on eight hits in five innings. Trenton relievers Wilkins Arias and Eric Wordekemper combined to toss three innings of scoreless relief.

The Fisher Cats open a three-game series Tuesday night in Reading. RHP Randy Boone (2-2, 3.17) is scheduled to start the opener for New Hampshire against Reading RHP Jason Anderson (0-0, 2.37). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman.

New Hampshire welcomes the Altoona Curve to Merchantsauto.com Stadium next weekend, with two Atlas Fireworks Shows scheduled for Friday, June 4 (7:05pm) and Saturday, June 5 (7:05pm).
