
Doyle and Veltman Capture Weekly Awards

The National Lacrosse League announced the weekly awards for week #14 and two Toronto Rock players have made the grade. Colin Doyle was selected for Offensive Player of the Week and Jim Veltman took Overall player of the Week for the second time this season. Both players were key to the home and home series sweep of the Buffalo Bandits that clinched the Eastern Division title and a first round playoff bye for the Rock.
Colin Doyle led the Rock in scoring with 14 points in the victories over the Bandits. On Friday, Doyle scored four goals, had two assists and scooped three looseballs to give the Rock the 14-11 win. On Saturday, he scored four goals and added six assists for ten points and scooped seven looseballs in the 15-9 win over the Bandits.
Captain Jim Veltman assisted the Rock both offensively and defensively to give the team the much need wins over Buffalo. He tallied twelve points on one goal and eleven assists and picked up twenty-one looseballs in two games. On Friday night, Veltman scored 1 goal and added four assists for five points and scooped twelve looseballs. In the 15-9 win on Saturday, he had seven assists and scooped nine looseballs.
