NLL National Lacrosse League

Commissioner Jim Jennings Receives Contract Extension

March 31, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

The National Lacrosse League has announced a contract extension for League Commissioner Jim Jennings. Jennings has signed a two-year extension that reaches into the 2007 season. Jennings was appointed Commissioner by the league's Board of Governors in September of 2000, and is currently in his fourth season with the league.

"The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors is pleased that Jim Jennings has agreed to a new two year contract", said Russ Cline, Co-Owner and Governor of the Philadelphia Wings and head of the league's Executive Committee. "Jim has been instrumental in a major reorganization of team ownership, relocation of franchises, West Coast expansion and leads the owner's efforts to negotiate a new long term collective bargaining agreement. Under Jim's leadership, the league continues to expand and grow in popularity. The Governors were unanimous in their desire to retain his services."

Under Jennings' leadership, the league has grown from a regional league in the Northeast United States to a national league with ten teams across the US and Canada. Jennings has secured national television coverage for the league on Fox Sports Net and The Score Television Network, and new national sponsors for the league including Killian's Irish Red and NoDebt.com. Franchise values have also increased dramatically during his tenure as Commissioner.

"I'm pleased to continue in my role as Commissioner of the National Lacrosse League", said Jennings. "There is a lot more to accomplish in the coming seasons, and I am proud to be a part of our continued growth and success. I'm thankful to our Board of Governors for their vote of confidence and continued support as we move forward".

Jennings was appointed Commissioner on September 17, 2000. Prior to joining the NLL, Jennings owned and operated several successful professional sports teams in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) and the United States Basketball League (USBL).
