Published on March 31, 2004 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
From Toronto to Anaheim and everywhere in between.. the Nick GAS Scoop ân Shoot youth competitions have all been completed, and each team will now send their local winners to the 2004 Finals! The 2004 Nick GAS Scoop 'n Shoot Finals will take place on Saturday, April 3rd in Rochester, New York at the Blue Cross Arena. The finals will take place at halftime of the Rochester Knighthawks vs. Philadelphia Wings game, which starts at 7:30pm Eastern.
Nick GAS Scoop 'n Shoot, presented by Nickelodeon GAS (Games and Sports for Kids Network) and US Lacrosse, is a lacrosse skills competition open to all boys and girls ages 9-14. The Nick GAS Scoop ân Shoot team conducted a local contest in home cities of each of the ten National Lacrosse League teams during the regular season. The winners in each age group (9-11 and 12-14) will travel to the Rochester with a parent or guardian to compete in the national finals on Saturday.
Each Nick GAS Scoop 'n Shoot contestant competes by taking part in an individual time trial. Six lacrosse balls are placed on the floor, all within 15 feet of the goal crease. When the whistle blows, the player picks up each ball with his/her lacrosse stick and shoots the ball into the empty goal. The idea is to shoot all six balls into the goal as quickly as possible. The players from each team competition with the fastest times in each age group (9-11 and 12-14) have earned the chance to compete at the Nick GAS Scoop ân Shoot finals at halftime of the Philadelphia Wings at Rochester Knighthawks game this Saturday, April 3rd.
