The Down East Wood Ducks continue their series with the Carolina Mudcats today at 5:00 p.m. The Wood Ducks will send RHP Nick Krauth (0-1, 1.31) and he will matchup against Carolina LHP Brock Begue (0-0, 2.70)

Wood Ducks and Mudcats Split Doubleheader: After back-to-back rainouts on Wednesday and Thursday, the Down East Wood Ducks were back in action against the Carolina Mudcats Friday and split the doubleheader, falling in game one 6-5 but salvaging game two with a 5-1 win. The Wood Ducks and Mudcats are once again tied for first in the Low-A East Central division.

SWINGIN' FOR THE FENCES: Yesterday's doubleheader featured two homeruns and six RBIs from two players. Luisangel Acuña hit a three-run homerun (3) in game one and Xavier Valentin followed with a three-run shot (1) of his own in game two. Acuña leads Down East with three homeruns on the season.

IT'S IN THE GENES: Right now, two Rangers affiliates sit in first place in their respective leagues and divisions, Frisco (AA Central - South) & Down East (A East - Central). Frisco and Down East also sport the top two team ERAs in all of MiLB. Frisco sits atop all of MiLB with a 2.71 ERA and Down East is right behind them with a 2.75 ERA.

RUN FORREST! RUN!: Being fast and loose on the base paths has been the secret to their success. When the Wood Ducks steal a base they are 17-5 on the season. Down East currently has 49 stolen bases on the season which puts them at the top of the Low-A East. Evan Carter and Jayce Easley have been the busiest runners on base, combining for 23 of the team's 53 swiped bags. Carter has 12 on the season and Easley has 11. Jayce also has the most stolen bases in one game (3) which happened on 5/15 vs. Carolina.

TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS: The bullpen has been heavily relied upon for the Wood Ducks through the first 27 games. Collectively, the pitching staff has thrown 231.2 innings but the bullpen has done most of the heavy lifting with 129.2 innings compared to the starting rotation 103 innings. The Wood Ducks bullpen has pitched to a 2.22 ERA this season with 174 strikeouts.
