Doughty Grand & Toy Player of the Week

The Guelph Storm announced that defenceman Drew Doughty is the Grand & Toy Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, March 11th. This is Doughty's second consecutive player of the week honour and third in less than a month.

Doughty finished the week with two goals in three games and was awarded with a star in two of his three games played. Through 64 games this season, the London native has 20 goals and 52 assists for 72 points. Doughty currently leads the Storm in points (72), assists (52) and powerplay goals (14).

The second year defenceman was held off the scoreboard in Friday's 3-0 loss against the London Knights, but proved to be the best Storm player on the ice being awarded with the third star of the game. Saturday night Doughty scored both Storm goals in the 2-1 Guelph win over the Sarnia Sting and was named the first star of the game. In the 7-4 loss to the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday, Doughty was held off the scoreboard.

Doughty and the Storm return to action this week when they face off against the Kitchener Rangers on Wednesday night at home. Game time is 7:00 pm. This coming weekend marks the last two games of the regular season. Friday night the Windsor Spitfires are in town for a 7:30 pm start and Saturday the Storm travel to Owen Sound to face off against the Attack for the final game of the regular season.
