DORADOS LOOKING FOR SOME LUCK OF THE IRISH

NOTRE DAME PRODUCT RONNIE NICKS ACQUIRED BY DORADOS

HIDALGO, TX: May 27,2004 – The arenafootball2's (af2) Rio Grande Valley Dorados completed a roster move today on the road in Tulsa by activating assigned free agent fullback/linebacker Ronnie Nicks from the Manchester Wolves and placed defensive specialist Marcus Bradley and lineman Marco McGee on the short-term injured reserve list.

Nicks, a 6'1" 255-pound native of Kilgore, Texas, played two games this season with the Manchester Wolves and had 1 tackle (2 assisted) at the linebacker position. This is the Wolves first season in Manchester, New Hampshire. Last season, they played in Connecticut and Nicks was a member of the Mohegan Valley Wolves. The 2003 season was Nicks' first in af2 and he grabbed 12.5 tackles (9 unassisted) and 2 sacks on defense and provided 32 yards rushing off 9 carries in 9 games played. He also was with the Wolves in their two postseason games last season. Nicks has professional experience playing in NFL-Europe in 2001 with the Rhine Fire. The 26 year-old was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the seventh round of the 2001 Free Agent Draft, but was later released during training camp. Nicks played in over 29 games during his college career at Notre Dame University from 1996-1999. With the Fighting Irish, Nicks compiled 58 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. He appeared and started in 9 games as a senior in the 1999 season. Nicks was recruited out of Kilgore High School (Kilgore, Tx), where he was selected as the 1995 East Texas Defensive Player of the Year by the Longview News Journal. He lettered three years at Kilgore and also earned 17-4A MVP and Second Team All-State honors in 1995 as a senior, after helping his team to the Region III Playoffs with 87 tackles and 3 interceptions.

Both Bradley and McGee were placed on the short-term injured reserve list with hamstring injuries from Saturday's game against Laredo. Bradley is currently third on the Dorados in tackles with 16.5 (11 solo) and has 1 interception to his credit. McGee, who was a free agent acquisition last week from the Tulsa Talons, played in his first game with the Dorados Saturday but did not register any statistics.

Nicks will join the Dorados (3-4) in Tulsa and will be in the Dorados line-up Friday for their contest against the Tulsa Talons (4-3). It is the first match-up between the two teams and Tulsa is the only divisional opponent the Dorados have not seen this season. The Dorados (3-4) will be looking for a victory to grab a share of third place in the National Conference's Southwest Division and to end a three game winless streak. The Talons are coming off of a 61-53 win over the Arkansas Twisters. Many of the Dorados games this season have been defensive minded, but this one could be offensive minded, as the Talons scoring offense ranks third in the league (58.9 avg.) and their defense is the second worse in the league (55.4 avg. allowance). The game will be broadcasted on the radio on ESPN Radio 1240 AM (KSOX) with Chris Due providing the play-by-play and online at www.doradosfootball.com.

The Dorados return to the Dodge Arena on June 12th to host the Tulsa Talons and individual tickets are currently on and may be purchased by stopping by the Dodge Arena offices (2600 N. 10th St. in Hidalgo, Tx) or contacting them by phone at 956-843-7825. Additional ticket information and corporate opportunities are available by contacting the Dorados offices at 956-843-7825 or visit the Dorados online at www.doradosfootball.com. --af2--
