Five years, five million reasons

May 27, 2004 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release

CHICAGO - It is anticipated that the five-millionth fan to attend an af2 game will walk through the turnstile of an af2 arena in Week 10, the af2 League office announced today. To commemorate this event, the League has planned a Five-Millionth Fan Celebration for Week 10 (June 4-6).

"We are thrilled to be able to celebrate our five-millionth fan during our fifth anniversary season," said af2 Executive Director Jay Marcus. "Our fans are some of the most loyal and dedicated sports fans in the country. We are thankful for their support and look forward to continuing to provide the affordable total entertainment experience they have come to love."

Going into the 2004 season, af2's all-time attendance total was at 4,479,199. Based on totals up to this point in the season and projections for the next two weeks, the five-millionth fan should occur in Week 10.

In celebration of the milestone event, an honorary five-millionth fan will be selected at each game during Week 10. The winning fan at each game, selected randomly upon entrance into the arena, will receive a prize package including, but not limited to: two season tickets for the 2005 season, an authentic af2 jersey signifying the five-millionth fan and dream seats for the game they are attending that night. Prize packages may vary by market.

In an additional gesture of appreciation for all of af2's fans, the league has adopted the following slogan for the remainder of the season: "Five Years. Five Million Reasons."

"We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for our fans," said Marcus. "This phrase celebrates how far we've come and signifies the essence of who we work for in this league."
