Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release

HIDALGO, TX: November 10, 2004 – The arenafootball2 announced the 2005 division alignment today from its offices in Chicago, and the Rio Grande Valley Dorados are moving into the National Conference's West Division.

Last season, the Dorados played in the National Conference's Southwest Division with Laredo, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Wichita and the af2 was broken down into two conferences and six divisions for its 25 teams. This season, the af2's 20 teams will play in a two-conference four-division format. The Dorados will be joined in the West Division by the Bakersfield Blitz, Central Valley Coyotes (Fresno, CA), San Diego Riptide, and the Tulsa Talons. The National Conference's other division, the Midwest Division, will consist of the Amarillo Dusters, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings, Memphis Xplorers, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz and the Quad City Steamwheelers.

The 2005 af2 schedule has not been announced, but should be released soon. Entering its sixth season in April of 2005, af2 serves as a vehicle to bring Arena Football to second-tier cities and as a developmental league with an unmatched history of sending players, coaches and officials to major professional football leagues each year. af2 operates under the same Mission Statement and Fans' Bill of Rights as the Arena Football League, which begins its 19th season in 2005.
