Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release

HIDALGO, TX: July 14, 2005 - The Rio Grande Valley Dorados battle for first place in the arenafootball2's West Division Saturday night on the road against the division co-leading Tulsa Talons, and the clash between the two 9-4 squads will be televised in the Rio Grande Valley on a one-hour tape delay beginning at 8 PM on Televisa XERV Channel 9 (19 for Time Warner cable subscribers).

"This is the biggest game in our franchise's short history and since we can't bring our fans in the Rio Grande Valley to Tulsa, we are bringing the game to the Valley," said Dorados General Manager Grant Buckborough. "This was a short notice deal, but Televisa and KWHB in Tulsa presented the opportunity and then local sponsors made it happen. We are gracious to have some fine sponsors and media partners to complete this broadcast which allows our fans to watch this game."

The broadcast feed will come from the Tulsa Talons television broadcast home KWHB TV-47, with Bruce Howard and Allan Trimble providing the action. Howard, who serves as the Director of Broadcasting for the University of Tulsa and the voice of Tulsa athletics, will handle the play-by-play duties, while Tulsa area high school football coach Trimble provides commentary. Televisa's XERV will carry the broadcast for the Rio Grande Valley market beginning at 8PM, which is an hour delay from the 7PM kickoff at the Tulsa Convention Center.

For those unavailable to watch the game, the game will be aired live on ESPN Radio 1240. Wes McKinzie will provide the play-by-play as Chris Due will miss the game to entertain a previously scheduled family commitment. McKinzie, who use to broadcast with Due while they attended college together at Oklahoma Christian Univrsity, is a San Antonio native and served previously with the Arena Football League's now-defunct Oklahoma Wranglers and with the arenafootball2's league office in Chicago. The broadcast will begin with the Dodge Pregame show at 6:45 PM.

The Dorados return to action this Saturday night in Tulsa against the Tulsa Talons for a battle of two 9-4 squads and first place of the National Conference's West Division on the line. The next home game is July 23rd, as the Dorados host the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz at Chase Field inside the Dodge Arena. Individual tickets for the game and all other home games are already on sale.
