GREEN BAY BLIZZARD (8-5) AT ALBANY CONQUEST (3-10)

FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2005 - PEPSI ARENA (13,901) 7:30 P.M. ET

With a playoff berth locked up, the Green Bay Blizzard look to move closer to a home playoff date as they take on the Albany Conquest. For the Conquest this will be their final game at home this season, and they would like to treat the home folks to a victory. If they are going to make this happen quarterback D BRYANT will need to replicate his performance last week when he threw for 270 yards and eight touchdowns on 20-of-29 passing with no interceptions. While the Conquest lost the game, it was one of Bryant's best performances of the season. JEREMIAH POPE caught four touchdown passes last week to bring his receiving touchdowns total to 25 this season. Pope is the Conquest's leading receiver despite playing in only ten games this season. Teammate MANWELL TALBERT leads the team in receiving yards (1,125). Talbert also makes his presence felt on defense, recording 25.0 tackles, two sacks and two recovered fumbles this season. Talbert and Pope will have a challenge in Green Bay's secondary, one of af2's best. RYAN BOWERS is tied for the league lead in interceptions with nine, and DAVID CROCKER has four. Nine other Blizzard players have intercepted a pass this season to combine for 26 total picks, best in the league. Last week against Quad City in his first game as a member of the Green Bay Blizzard, TANAKA SCOTT registered a solo tackle and a forced fumble. He joined the Blizzard from the South Georgia Wildcats where he recorded 20.0 tackles and 3.5 sacks. The last meeting between these two teams was in the season opener at Green Bay. JOHNNY TURMAN threw seven touchdown passes, and Ryan Bowers picked off two passes in Green Bay's 49-41 victory.

BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLE WINGS (3-10) AT BAKERSFIELD BLITZ (4-9)

FRIDAY, JULY 15, 2005 - RABOBANK ARENA (9,000) 10:00 P.M. ET

The Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings head to the Golden State to face the Bakersfield Blitz. BRENT RAWLS earned his first professional start at quarterback last week against Rio Grande Valley. He threw for 577 yards and six touchdowns, but his Achilles' Heel was the interception, throwing three of them. If Rawls can limit the turnovers, he will have the Battle Wings in position to take one out west. This might be easier said than done as Bakersfield has one of the league's best defenses. The Blitz are only giving up 42.9 points per game, fourth best in the league. Rookie defensive specialist ALEX WALLACE is tied for the league lead in interceptions with nine and will look to make it a rough night for Rawls. Upfront former AFL lineman SHAWN KING has made a name for himself in af2. He leads the team in sacks with 5.5 and has broken up three passes. One of af2's better two-way players REGGIE PERKINS will look to help out Rawls. Perkins leads the team in receiving and has two interceptions and seven interceptions on defense. KENNET JOHNSON has come on strong of late, catching six passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns last week. For the Blitz, RENNARD REYNOLDS is their leading receiver, but veteran ERIC MAHANKE has the ability to make the big catch as well. Mahanke has 45 receptions for 480 yards and 12 touchdowns this season. In the last meeting between these two clubs, a Bakersfield 75-40 victory, JASON THOMAS threw for seven touchdown passes and no interceptions. This is the final home game of the season for the Bakersfield Blitz.
