WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Carolina Thunderbirds, defending FPHL Commissioner's Cup champions, are thrilled to announce that Czech defenseman Dominik Fejt (pronounced 'fate') will be returning to the roster next season.

"We're happy to have the 'Fejt Train' back in Winston-Salem," head coach Andre Niec remarked, "He was a big part of our success last year."

The Prague native will begin his third season with the Thunderbirds, having played in 67 games for the red and black, scoring six goals and logging 26 assists for Carolina. Just last season, Fejt earned 28 points for the club and was a staggering +37 on the blue line. Fejt also logged 200 penalty minutes last year.

"He showed such a big improvement last year," Niec continued, "and we're just really glad to have that big presence back."

Fejt and Jay Kenney are the only two defensemen from the Commissioner's Cup championship team who have re-signed with Carolina for next season. The Thunderbirds have already locked up five returning forwards.

Carolina will begin FPHL play on Friday, October 25 at Elmira. The Thunderbirds home opener will be against one of the league's newest teams, Danbury, on Friday, November 8.

In related news, former Thunderbirds goalie Christian Pavlas has signed a contract to play in the Slovak Tipsport Liga for HC Nove Zamky.

Pavlas backstopped the Birds to 30 wins last season and a strong .932 save percentage. The Thunderbirds family wishes Christian all the best as he moves overseas.
