Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs recorded six goals while the Hershey Bears were unable to find the back of the net against Marc Denis who made a total of 37 saves for his second shutout of the season. Max Pacioretty recorded a goal and two assists and the Bulldogs scored two shorthanded markers in the game.
With less than two minutes remaining in the first period, Hamilton opened the scoring for the first time in three games while on the power play. Hamilton controlled the puck inside Hershey's zone before Pacioretty fed a pass to Ben Maxwell, who was waiting in the slot. Maxwell waited a few seconds before releasing a shot that beat Hershey starting goaltender Daren Machesney.
The Bulldogs added their third shorthanded marker of the season on a goal by Matt D'Agostini at 15:12 of the middle frame. D'Agostini intercepted a Bears pass at the blue line before wristing a shot past the glove of Machesney. Pacioretty recorded his first-career AHL goal and second point of the game only 23 seconds later. Ben Maxwell fired a shot on net that Machesney was able to stop but the netminder could not hold onto the rebound allowing Pacioretty to bang the puck into the back of the net to give Hamilton a 3-0 lead.
David Desharnais added the Bulldogs second shorthanded tally of the night at 2:35 of the final frame. Ryan White collected his own rebound before sliding the puck across the crease allowing Desharnais to pick up the loose puck and fire a shot into the back of the net.
Ryan Russell added the âDogs fifth goal of the night at 12:52 of the third stanza, after receiving a pass from Kyle Chipchura during a two-on-one break. Russel snuck in the shot, which squeezed under the crossbar.
During four-on-four play, Chad Anderson scored his second goal of the season with less than two minutes to play, snapping a wrist shot high on Machesney's glove side. Pacioretty picked up his second assist of the night.
