Gary, IN - The Chicago Dogs (51-40) scored six first-inning runs and never looked back as they downed the Gary SouthShore RailCats (37-54) 17-2 on Saturday afternoon.
In an early hole, the RailCats fought right back in the early innings. Gio Díaz and Jackson Valera connected on back-to-back singles to begin the first inning. Díaz scored on a Marcos Gonzalez groundout to get the 'Cats on the board at 6-1.
The Dogs managed another run in the second frame, but Gary SouthShore neutralized it immediately with one swing. Francisco Del Valle uncorked his eighth home run of the season, a solo shot, to again cut into the deficit, this time at 7-2.
However, Chicago's offensive display continued throughout the afternoon to take a 17-2 victory in Game 2.
The RailCats return to The Steel Yard one final time in the regular season at 2:00 p.m. for the series finale versus the Dogs. All the action will be streamed on aabaseball.tv and broadcast over the radio on 95.9 WEFM and the Gary SouthShore RailCats Broadcast Network via the Mixlr app.
