ontreal, PQ - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 2-1 by the Binghamton Senators in front of 14, 702 fans at Bell Centre. The loss was the first the âDogs suffered in regulation this season and ends an 11-game point streak.
Binghamton opened the scoring at 15:59 of the first period while on a five-on-three power play. Denis Hamel fired a shot from the blue line that was saved by Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford. Sanford saved rebound attempts by Martin St. Pierre but could not stop Ryan Keller who whacked the loose puck past the goaltender.
The Senators took a 2-0 lead at 8:02 of the second period. Jason Bailey stripped the puck off a Bulldogs defender before firing a shot that beat Sanford between the legs.
Hamilton got on the scoreboard at 8:39 of the final frame with a power-play goal. Shawn Belle stopped a clearing attempt before sliding a pass to P.K. Subban. Subban blasted a one-time shot from the top of the left circle that sailed past Binghamton starting goaltender Mike Brodeur and into the back of the net. The goal was Subban's first-career AHL goal.
