
Pirates Blank the Bears

Portland, Maine - J.P. Lamoureux turned aside 28 shots for his first career American Hockey League shutout as the Portland Pirates skated to a 5-0 win over the Hershey Bears tonight in front of 6,621 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
Kyle Wanvig, Jeff Cowan, Derek Whitmore, Travis Turnbull and Mark Mancari scored for the Pirates, who improved to 5-8 on the season. Philip Gogulla collected two assists in the game in helping Portland to their fourth home victory of the year. Turnbull's goal was the first of his AHL career and Mancari's goal extended his point-scoring streak to seven games (3-5-8).
Hershey dropped to 8-5 on the season and saw their four-game winning streak end with the loss.
The Pirates led 2-0 after the first and second periods.
Hershey out shot the Pirates 28-27 in the game.
The three stars of the game were all from the Pirates. Lamoureux was the first, Gogulla the second and Turnbull the third.
The Pirates complete a four-game home stand Sunday afternoon when the Springfield Falcons visit the CCCC for a 4 p.m. start.
